Ultreya Gatherings

Ultreya,’ in Spanish, means “onward” and for us it’s an event meant to uplift and support the community, keeping the momentum of the Cursillo experience alive! Cursillistas, their families and friends, gather together for music, food, fellowship and to hear news and announcements. Sometimes these reunions focus on the new Cursillistas from particular weekends and while hosted by a men’s and/or women’s team, welcome the larger community and include a talk or two given by new Cursillistas about their experience. Other times, the Secretariat will host an Ultreya gathering just to get folks together for the community-building, and perhaps fundraising, and all Cursillistas are welcome.

Ultreyas are a gathering of Cursillistas in a geographical area, for instance the SF/SM Cursillo Community Ultreya. The Ultreya serves as a structure to assist Christians in their perseverance. It is a mini weekend all in one night. Music, testimony, food, prayer and sharing each one’s journey. Ultreyas are usually held 3 to 4 times per year.
