Cursillo is a Spanish word meaning short course. A “Cursillo en Cristiandad” is a “short course in Christian living.” As a movement, Cursillo had its origin in the late 1940’s on the island of Majorca, Spain and made its way to San Francisco in 1961; our community currently includes Christians from not only the counties of San Francisco and San Mateo but also welcomes friends from Alameda County and Contra Costa.
Cursillo was developed as a means of reviving Christian commitment and our weekends serve as an opportunity to grow a deeper personal relationship with God. We experience living and sharing with others in a loving and caring Christian community and come to realize that this can be extended to our own environment. Our purpose is to love, to serve, to bring the good news to all, and to act as the Body of Christ in our world.
We are blessed to operate with the guidance of both the Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco and the Episcopal Diocese of California and have welcomed Christians from several different protestant and community congregations.
